Promoting Cultural Humility: An Introduction to HEALS

This introductory training is designed to review core concepts of diversity and inclusion. Topics covered cultural humility, unconscious bias, microaggessions, identity, and intersectionality. In addition, and introduction to H*E*A*L*S (developed by the School of Nursing DIVA program) will provide an experiential activity to learn strategies to begin dialogues on emergent diversity-related issues. Unconscious Bias

Unconscious Bias is a widely-researched concept that explores attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions, and decisions in an unconscious manner. This presentation will review state of the science on unconscious bias, explore the impact in the workplace and clinical setting, and present strategies for addressing bias.
