This Certificate Program focuses on exploring foundational concepts essential to enhancing an inclusive work environment through lecture, experiential and independent activities. Participants may explore their own backgrounds to deepen their understanding on stereotypes and biases and learn the tools to support a more inclusive climate.

To develop a more capable workforce by enhancing staff competencies and capacity relevant to diversity, equity and inclusion, in order to leverage these toward achieving and sustaining campus wide excellence.

Offered in Spring and Fall, this 4-month long self-directed learning certificate program includes:
- 2.5 hours in-person sessions twice a month.
- 2.5 hours of independent leaning in between sessions including a core reading assignment, and a number of supplemental readings, video clips, or audio clips to choose from based on learning preference.
- The program is open to all UCSF staff.
- In an effort to enrich the personal experiences and interpersonal interactions of each participant, a limited number of applicants will be selected each year.
- Each participant must commit to attend every session, and obtain the appropriate release time for the program.
- A certificate will be awarded upon completion of the program.
The Certificate Program will be led by LaMisha Hill, Director of the Multicultural Resource Center. A diverse group of UCSF staff, faculty, and administrators will also contribute to the program.
LaMisha Hill, PhD joined UCSF in 2014 as the Director of the Multicultural Resource Center. Prior to this, Dr. Hill completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at UC Berkeley's Counseling & Psychological Services, and a Pre-Doctoral Internship at UC Riverside's Counseling Center. Graduate training in Counseling Psychology from the University of Oregon provided foundations in multicultural and ecological frameworks that further sustain her efforts in diversity and inclusion initiatives in higher education. Dr. Hill is passionate about social justice, advocacy, and equity. She oversees the programmatic efforts of the Multicultural Resource Center, which focus on celebrating diversity, social justice initiatives, and mentorship for historically underrepresented learners.

Program Schedule: August to December 2018
The sessions will be held on Parnassus and Mission Bay campuses between 9:30am to noon or 2:00 to 4:30pm. Session time and location will be confirmed by August 1.

Previous applicants who were not selected should submit a new application if they would like to be considered. Past successful applicants addressed each of the personal statement questions, including how they would incorporate diversity and inclusion work into their current role, spoke to their career goals at UCSF, and expressed an interest in bringing their learning back to their unit and/or department.
