UCSF HEAR Symposium

The annual UCSF Health Equity and Anti-Racism Research (HEAR) Symposium showcases research to advance health equity and anti-racism, inspiring collaboration and research direction across disciplines, schools, and the wider Bay Area. This year’s keynote speaker is Monica McLemore, PhD, MPH, RN.
Highway to Healthcare Interpreter Program
UCSF Center for Science Education and Outreach and Department of Pediatrics, in partnership with the Oakland Unified School District Alumni Highway to Work Programs, have launched a new program at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, training Mam-speaking Bay Area residents to serve as healthcare interpreters.
UCSF Awarded NIH Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Prize
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Institutional Excellence in DEIA in Biomedical and Behavioral Research Prize Competition recognized UCSF among only 10 U.S. post-secondary education institutions with a $100,000 prize for "implementing strategies to enhance DEIA in research environments."

UCSF Anti-Racism Initiative
As an organization dedicated to improving health, UCSF has committed itself to dismantling structural racism and the impact of bias. We launched the Anti-Racism Initiative to advance equity and justice in our community. Our anti-racism efforts are focused on seven major areas of work.
