Plan on College! is a free, one-day, annual event for Bay Area students in the eighth grade and their parents or guardians. Attendees of Plan on College! will receive valuable information on course selection for high school, factors that impact college eligibility, college financial aid, and long-term benefits of a college education. Parent workshops are presented in English, Spanish and Cantonese by experts in the field.

CTRFP is a yearlong pre-doctoral training program open to students in UCSF School of Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Pharmacy and School of Dentistry. The program provides training and mentorship to pre-doctoral students in clinical and translational research methodology and practice. Students who wish to participate must take a year off from their studies and commit one year (July-June) to clinical and translational research work under the guidance of a UCSF mentor. The program is also available to medical students outside of UCSF through the Doris Duke International Clinical Research Fellowship (details can be found here: CTR Fellowship Programs International Research). Funding for this yearlong program is available to students through RAPtr and Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.

The Women in Academic Medicine group was formed at UCSF Fresno in 2014 to create a supportive community to help foster and support women pursuing academic careers in medicine at all stages of their careers. The Asian Pacific American Medical Students Association (APAMSA) is a national organization of medical and pre-medical students committed to addressing the unique health challenges of Asian and Pacific Islander American (APIA) communities. APAMSA serves as a forum for student leaders to engage these health issues and develop initiatives and projects addressing those needs. The local, regional, and national activities of APAMSA aim to promote the health of the APIA community and help healthcare workers understand how to care for APIA patients in a culturally sensitive manner. Finally, APAMSA provides an important venue for medical students to meet, exchange experiences, and develop personally and professionally through leadership and service.

The Black Student Health Alliance (BSHA) is a student organization devoted to fostering community among students in the Schools of Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Physical Therapy and the Graduate Division at UCSF. In collaboration with other campus organizations, we aim to increase diversity within the student body, as well as among faculty and staff. As an extension of this mission, we offer support and guidance to students as they navigate academic institutions and prepare for careers in the health professions. BSHA provides an extended community of peers and mentors by building alliances among professionals and alumni in all health fields, and encourages the collaboration of resources and expertise. Through community events and outreach activities, BSHA contributes to the enrichment of the Black student community in particular, and to the broader UCSF community at large.

CHE (Chicanos/Latinos in Health Education) is an umbrella organization of LMSA (Latino Medical Student Association), HSDA (Hispanic Dental Student Association), LAPS (Latino Association of Pharmacy Students), and Voces Latinas Nursing Student Association. CHE unites Latino students and those interested in the Latino community, from within the various professional schools at UCSF. Our mission consists of an interdisciplinary approach that offers outreach, mentoring, cultural awareness, health education, and direct services to diverse communities in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area. Our goal is to unite as professional students who come from humble origins, in the hopes of serving as an inspiration to youth and future leaders in the health professions.

Chinese Health Professional Student Association (CHPSA) primary goal is to promote respectable understanding of Chinese culture and its diversity to students at UCSF. More importantly, CHPSA will emphasize Chinese culture relevant to medical and dental treatments and facilitate culturally sensitive patient centered care at UCSF.
