Dozier-Libbey Medical High School is located in Antioch, CA a primarily underserved community. Each year, we host a program for their junior physiology class in which students visit UCSF and experience a pathology seminar, visit to the Kanbar Center, hear from a UCSF faculty member and learn about medical school admissions.

Each year, for the past 18 years, approx. 75 seniors from the Doctor's Academy schools in the Central Valley (Sunnyside HS, Coruthers HS, and Selma HS) visit UCSF to experience a pathology lab and hear a faculty speaker. This program is in conjunction with the UCSF Fresno Latino Center.

MedLink is a partnership between UCSF medical students, SFUSD, OUSD and community organizations. Our mission is to inspire and support high school students from communities that are under-represented in the health professions through mentorship and hands-on activities in the health sciences. We envision a future in which healthcare workers come from backgrounds that are as ethnically and economically diverse as the communities they serve.

1-Week Neuroscience camp for rising high school juniors or seniors from SFUSD. Hands on activities, lectures about neuroscience diseases and research and lots of fun!

Annually faculty, medical students and/or staff visit undergraduate campuses to talk about medical school admissions or the UCSF Post Baccalaureate Program. Schools/conferences included in these visits include UC Berkeley (featured speakers, post-bac program panelist, Minorities in Health Conference speakers), Stanford University (SUMMA conference--targeted to minority students), CSU East Bay, SFSU, LMSA, and SNMA national/regional conferences (tabling)

In the Fall of 1981, some concerned staff members and students met to discuss the possibility of forming an Asian Pacific American network on the UC systemwide level. They saw the need for such an organization to directly address issues impacting Asian Pacific Americans on the UC campuses. APASA was thus developed with representative on the UC campuses and was introduced to the San Francisco campus in 1988.

PRIME hosts 4-5 health pipeline organizations to come and visit the UCSF campus during the summer. We have current partners that we invite, Mentoring in Medicine and Science, Huckleberry Youth Wellness Academy, San Francisco State Summer Science Institute, FACES for the Future. PRIME students work with the coordinators of the pipeline programs to develop a site visit that is in line with the interests of their programs. Some typical activities include a tour, a medical student panel, specimen/organ hands-on activity. Each program visits UCSF once for about 3 hours.

In order to increase access to primary care for the underserved, the GE Foundation and National Medical Fellowships founded the Primary Care Leadership Program (PCLP) in 2012. Now entering its eighth year, PCLP provides future healthcare professionals with an opportunity to experience the challenges and rewards of primary care practice in community health centers (CHCs) across the US. This program is open to medical students and graduate-level nursing and physician assistant students who are poised to become leaders in primary care. For six weeks, PCLP Scholars will actively engage with a CHC Site Partner and PCLP mentors in leadership training, team-based project activities, and healthcare service delivery. Scholars will each receive a $5,000 scholarship stipend that is expected to cover travel, living, and lodging expenses during the service-learning experience period.
