The UC San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in conjunction with the UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center is pleased to announce its two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology-Oncology beginning July 1.The fellows will engage in pharmaceutical sciences research in quantitative pharmacology, drug discovery, drug development and clinical oncology at UC San Diego and at Pfizer Global Research and Development Oncology Business Unit, La Jolla.

The Haile T. Debas Diversity Fellowship was established to support the Department of Surgery's goal of increasing the number of underrepresented minority academic surgeons. The General Surgery Residency Training Program has a long tradition of training academic general surgeons. Participating in a 4th year sub-internship at UCSF provides the student with the opportunity to experience first-hand this environment of clinical excellence, inquiry and investigation. To help defray the costs of a clerkship in San Francisco, the Fellowship Award provides a stipend of $2,500.00, usable towards tuition, transportation, housing, and incidental expenses. Haile T. Debas, M.D., Maurice Galante Distinguished Professor of Surgery, Emeritus at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and Director Emeritus of the UC Global Health Institute (UCGHI), is world-renowned for his contributions to academic medicine and widely consulted on issues of global health. His storied career as a physician, researcher, professor, and academic leader spans over four decades in Canada and the U.S.

The HENAAC Scholars Program addresses the immense need that the United States has to produce more domestic engineers and scientists. The goal of the program is to ensure STEM college retention with a 3.0 grade point average or higher; to guarantee college graduation with an undergraduate technical degree in four-five years; and, to contribute to Hispanic communities by producing STEM role models for future generations and securing the country's place as the finest technological leader in the world.

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) Training Program offers a summer clinical research training program for up to 15-20 undergraduate students, who are planning to attend dental, medical, nursing, pharmacy or physical therapy professional schools after graduation, and who have an interest in a career in clinical research. Students will be paired with a UCSF professional student who is enrolled in the Designing Clinical Research (DCR) course. The purpose of the course is to train students to evaluate the medical literature, to design clinical and translational research studies, and to encourage long-term collaborations between UCSF and undergraduate students.

The GAPA Foundation Scholarship provides financial assistance to API LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer) students who are in the process of applying to, or are currently attending, a post-secondary institution. This innovative program, started in 2009, educates students and providers about healthcare disparities faced by members of the LGBTQI community. Specialists in LGBTQI healthcare are brought together to discuss a wide range of topics including transgender health, bisexual invisibility, lesbian health, intersex awareness, gay men's health, youth and aging issues, and LGBTQI parenting. Attendees are given the opportunity to interact with specialists through small breakout sessions and panel discussions featuring community professionals and patients. The forum includes several opportunities for professional networking and is offered as elective credit for current UCSF students.

CTRFP is a yearlong pre-doctoral training program open to students in UCSF School of Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Pharmacy and School of Dentistry. The program provides training and mentorship to pre-doctoral students in clinical and translational research methodology and practice. Students who wish to participate must take a year off from their studies and commit one year (July-June) to clinical and translational research work under the guidance of a UCSF mentor. The program is also available to medical students outside of UCSF through the Doris Duke International Clinical Research Fellowship (details can be found here: CTR Fellowship Programs International Research). Funding for this yearlong program is available to students through RAPtr and Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.

Learning Resource Services (LRS; within the Office of Student Academic Affairs): LRS is available to all students via individual student appointments, school-specific workshops, and small group appointments with students who study together informally.
